Yesterday we mentioned that Kellyn Acosta and Tesho Akindele were called up by the United States and Canadian national teams respectively for World Cup qualifiers running through next Tuesday.
Today we have learned that three more players will join them this weekend as Aubrey David (Trinidad & Tobago), Maynor Figueroa (Honduras) and Carlos Gruezo (Ecuador) have been called in by their respective national teams.
David joins Trinidad & Tobago as they host Guatemala on Friday, Sept. 2 (6 p.m. CT), before traveling to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the United States.
Figueroa will potentially be picking up his 114th cap with Honduras as they host Canada on Friday before traveling to Mexico next Tuesday.
Gruezo joins Ecuador in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying as they host Brazil on Thursday before traveling to Peru next week.
That puts five players out this weekend against a Portland Timbers side that will also be missing Jermaine Taylor (Jamaica), Alvas Powell (Jamaica) and Darlington Nagbe (United States) for international duty; and Nat Borchers, Darren Mattocks, Ben Zemanski and Zarek Valentin to injuries.
