FC Dallas regained the lead in Group H in the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday night as they tied Real Esteli 1-1.

Both teams trades goals within the first seven minutes of the match as Dallas moved to the top of the group with four points.

Four minutes in Ryan Hollingshead gave up a dangerous free kick near the corner. Esteli’s Emilio Lopez sent in a great ball to the near post where Elvis Figueroa was able to crash and get a head on to flick the ball past Jesse Gonzalez for the game’s first goal.

Esteli’s lead didn’t last long as less than a minute later they gave up a dangerous free kick to Dallas in their own end. Mauro Rosales whipped in a ball to the middle of the box where Atiba Harris was able to get on the end of it to tie up the game.

The home side nearly had a second goal off a set piece nine minutes into the second half. Luis Copete’s attempt got past Gonzalez but fortunately for Dallas the ball went over the bar.

In the 61st minute Dallas nearly had a game-winner on a nice play from Tesho Akindele. The Canadian international freed up Getterson for a one-time volley inside the penalty box but his strike sailed over the bar.

Dallas had one final push in the 79th minute on a play from Michael Barrios. Carlos Lizarazo set up Akindele on the right side of the field. Akindele found Barrios crashing into the box but his shot on goal was kick saved by Justo Lorente.

Dallas returns to action this Saturday as they travel back to Texas to face the Houston Dynamo in the final Texas Derby match of 2016.
