Recap Rankings: FC Dallas remains on top

No big changes across the web’s Power Ranking polls.

MLS: Sporting KC at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas didn’t lose any positioning in the various Power Rankings across the web this week as every major poll kept them at the top despite a gritty 2-2 draw at home to Sporting KC last weekend. Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: They looked fatigued against Sporting, which is understandable considering their midweek Open Cup win at LA. Dallas are huge favorites to win their first trophy since 1997, and now the question is if they have enough firepower to make it a double.

Soccer America Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: A goal by Tesho Akindele just minutes after coming on as a sub triggered a burst of four goals within 10 minutes, and FCD -- playing just three days after a draining extra-time defeat of the Galaxy in the Open Cup -- avoided defeat thanks to Maxi Urruti’s overhead volley of a chip off the woodwork. Its home unbeaten streak is 18 games. Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: Maxi Urruti is hit and miss, but when he hits, it's often spectacular. The Argentine striker's 76th-minute bicycle kick goal -- his second this year -- helped FCD stay unbeaten at home in a 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City.

SBI Soccer Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: FC Dallas advances to the U.S. Open Cup finals with a thrilling 2-1 extra-time defeat of the LA Galaxy on Wednesday. FC Dallas’ second match of the week saw them split points with Sporting Kansas City in MLS play. A furious 10 minute period that saw the teams split four goals, capped off by a defensive mistake that was jumped on by Max Urruti. The draw left FC Dallas atop the Supporters’ Shield standings and keeps them unbeaten at home this season. Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: Dallas needed a comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City, which isn’t the ideal result at home. That said, it extends the club’s unbeaten run to four games, and showed that the team can still get positive results after losing Fabian Castillo via transfer. Throw in the fact that the club made the U.S. Open Cup final with a dramatic Wednesday win over the LA Galaxy, and it’s been a good week for Oscar Pareja’s side.
