FC Dallas pushed for a late goal but was unable to get the win as they tied Sporting Kansas City 2-2 on Saturday night.

Both sides traded goals in the second half in a wild ten minutes. Dom Dwyer picked up two for Sporting while Maximiliano Urruti and Tesho Akindele scored for FC Dallas.

FCD had their best chance early in the match in the 17th minute on a counter attack lead by Michael Barrios. The Colombian got the ball on the left wing behind the Sporting defense, he played a ball across the goal to Urruti but the shot from Urruti was saved by Alex Kann.

Sporting didn’t back down though and in the 22nd minute they nearly found one of their own on a corner kick from Graham Zusi. The ball got sent into the middle of the penalty box where Dwyer was there to head it down but Chris Seitz was on the goal line to save it from danger.

FC Dallas came close to making a break through in the 52nd minute on a free kick by Mauro Diaz. The ball was sent into the middle of the box for Walker Zimmerman, who headed the ball on frame but was saved out by Kann. The rebound was immediately picked up by Atiba Harris but his shot would be saved as well by Kann.

Harris was able to set up the first goal in the 66th minute. Harris got the ball on the right wing and sent in a great cross that Akidele was able to get a head on to put in the back of the net.

SKC didn’t waste time getting a goal of their own as they tied it up a minute later. Brad Davis pushed the ball to the run of Dwyer and the veteran forward beat Zimmerman before hammering the ball into the top part of the goal.

Dwyer doubled his tally in the 73rd minute after a miss clearance from Zimmerman. Dwyer pounced on the ball and hammered it into the back of the net.

Urruti then tied things up in the 76th minute on a volley after Kann tired to save a cross from Maynor Figueroa.

FC Dallas returns to action next week when they travel to Utah to face Real Salt Lake.
