FC Dallas looks to extend their unbeaten mark when they host SKC.

The march towards the playoffs continue for FC Dallas as they play their first league game in August tomorrow night when they host Sporting Kansas City.

SKC comes into this match off a 3-0 loss last weekend in Portland while FC Dallas is fresh off a USOC win on Wednesday night in LA. Their last league game was July 31, a 2-0 win over Vancouver.

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. The only injury is still with Zach Loyd. Really nothing new on that front unfortunately.

Defense with Hedges. FC Dallas’ record when defender Matt Hedges starts is 8‐2‐5 this season. The only losses were against Sporting KC (2‐0 on June 19) and Houston (5‐0 on March 12). FCD has also given up eight fewer goals this season when he is on the field.

Key player for FCD: Carlos Gruezo. The Ecuadorian quietly had one of his better games on Wednesday night in LA, shutting down a lot of passing lanes for the Galaxy. But FCD will need him to be even bigger in this one as SKC has guys like Benny Feilhaber roaming in the middle and Graham Zusi on the wings. Closing those two down and limiting what SKC can do in the attack will go a long way in keeping this unbeaten streak at home alive.

Biggest question: What kind of gas does FCD have left in the tank?

We know how well this team has done over the last two months with all the congestion in the schedule. They know how to bounce back between games in a good manner but you have to feel that Wednesday night took a lot out of them. Most importantly, will Mauro Diaz be able to go the full 90 or will he come off the bench in this one?

SKC Notes:

Injury update. OUT: Matt Besler (left MCL strain), Justin Mapp (left calf strain), Tim Melia (back spasms) Chance Myers (right hamstring strain) QUESTIONABLE: Brad Davis (left calf strain), Paulo Nagamura (left quad strain)

Key player for SKC: Benny Feilhaber. Sporting KC midfielder Benny Feilhaber has four goals and seven assists in his last seven games against FC Dallas across all competitions, including a goal and an assist in Sporting KC’s 2-0 win on June 19 at Children’s Mercy Park.
