Here we are, in another new month as August rolls onto the calendar today.

It was hot, very hot, but all FCD needed was a couple quick goals in the second half to down the Whitecaps yesterday afternoon.
This was the big story yesterday afternoon as it became more clear by the hour that Fabian Castillo would not be transferring over to Turkey and would in fact be heading home to Texas this week.
The man himself, Taylor Twellman first broke this news yesterday during the broadcast and here is that video. And yes, we need far more transparency in MLS with player moves.
It will be very interesting to see how welcome Castillo is when he comes back home this week.
It was really cool to see Blas Perez back in Frisco yesterday and kudos to the crowd for giving him a really nice ovation when he was subbed out in the second half of the game.
Given all the results around the league this weekend, a win at home was absolutely what FCD had to do. Now they hold a decent point difference in the standings.

There was a lot to chew on this weekend in MLS. From NYCFC's romp over Colorado, Seattle debuting a new DP but tying LA, and Sebastian Giovinco continuing to do what he does so very well.
One big bit of news that came out of this weekend was that of Davis and his battle with cancer. It was one of those 'who knew?' kind of moments when you saw the alert come across the web. Glad he is in remission but wow what a story for this guy. I'm ready for ESPN to do a 30 for 30 on him.
This one came kind of randomly on Saturday night but Houston's fire sale is beginning to happen here as they traded Giles Barnes to Vancouver for rights to some Costa Rican defender.
Man, this story about Chris Rolfe is something else. It also serves as a reminder about how dangerous concussions are.
I mean, a 5-1 beating is pretty solid, especially when it is against one of the better teams in MLS.
Nothing like a little Will Ferrell humor to start your day.
