Following a boring yet tactical draw against Saint Louis FC over the weekend, the Oklahoma City Energy FC are set to return home in order to take on Western Conference club Sacramento FC.
The OKC Energy displayed a mediocre performance as they drew 0-0 against STLFC on Saturday, however, by playing to a draw, the Energy have now extended their unbeaten streak to eight games. While on this impressive run, the OKC side has seen themselves climb the Western Conference table, currently resting fourth.
As long as the Energy continue their unbeaten streak, they may have a chance at acquiring the conference's top spot. Currently, the OKC Energy rest four points behind first place, however, they also have played two less matches. If the Energy somehow are able to win their next two games, they may have the opportunity to overtake the first-place Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in order to grab the conference's top spot.
Much like last week's opponent, the Sacramento Republic are creeping slowly behind the Energy FC in the Western Conference. Although Sacramento may be fifth in the west, they haven't looked like a potential playoff team as of late. In the Republic's last five matches, they have gone on to lose three and draw two, scraping together an underwhelming three points out of a potential 15 in the time. Even though Sacramento have hit somewhat of a rough patch, they aren't a team to overlook. The dynamic USL club brings a vast amount of experience and MLS veterans to the table, including former Toronto defender Jeremy Hall and San Jose midfielder JJ Koval.
The OKC Energy will have a difficult challenge against the Sacramento Republic, however, home field advantage always seems to do the trick for the Energy. Tuesday night's match should be exciting and interesting, but most likely it will result in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Prediction: 2-2 draw
