FC Dallas added to their Supporter Shield point total on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The league leaders got two quick goals in the second half from Maximiliano Urruti and Kellyn Acosta to boost their unbeaten streak at home to 12 games this season.

FC Dallas brought good pressure early in the match as Diaz and Urruti were linking up well five minutes into the game. The two did a quick one-two with each other at the top of the penalty box but Urruti’s shot on goal would go just wide of the far post.

In the 25th minute Dallas had another solid chance on goal as Michael Barrios, Diaz and Urruti charged at the Vancouver defense. Barrios played a ball across the defense to a wide open Urruti but the Argentine forward would sky the shot over the goal.

FC Dallas made the first breakthrough ten minutes into the second half when Maynor Figueroa got the ball on the left wing. He played it back to Diaz who then played in Barrios at the top of the penalty box. Barrios one-timed it to Acosta, who fired a shot to the far post for the game’s first goal.

Dallas didn’t wait long to get a second goal as in the 59th minute Urruti finally made the most of a chance after getting a long ball from Atiba Harris on the right wing. The Argentine forward took one touch inside the penalty box and fired a ball past David Oustad to double the lead.

The two sides traded chances in the final 30 minutes but neither were able to crack the back of the net, let alone force a keeper into a save.

FC Dallas returns to action this Thursday as they begin play in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage as they host Real Esteli FC.
