FC Dallas vs Vancouver Whitecaps: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

Can FCD continue their hot streak at home?

MLS: FC Dallas at Vancouver Whitecaps FC Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The race towards the end of the season is starting to heat up for FC Dallas as they host rivals Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday evening.

Both sides are coming into this match off road draws last weekend. FCD picked up a big point away from home in Colorado, while the Caps got their first points in Texas in a 0-0 draw against Houston.

Vancouver got the best of FCD earlier in the season when the two clubs squared off at BC Place in April. Vancouver won that game 3-0.

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. The only injury is still with Zach Loyd. No new progress on where he is at in the concussion protocols.

Defense with Hedges. FC Dallas’ record when defender Matt Hedges starts is 8‐2‐5 this season. The only losses were against Sporting KC (2‐0 on June 19) and Houston (5‐0 on March 12). FCD has also given up eight fewer goals this season when he is on the field.

Key player for FCD: Maxi Urruti. The Argentine attacker sat out last weekend with an injury but looks good to go here this week. Urruti has to be a bigger piece in the attack now that Fabian Castillo is departing Dallas.

Biggest question: How much value will be placed on this game over the Champions League game later next week?

The busy schedule picks back up again in the coming weeks for FC Dallas as Champions League group play kicks off in the next week. Thankfully this game and the first CCL game are at home, which should be a relief after the amount of travel the club put in this month. Oscar Pareja has juggled his lineups well and now we have to wonder how much importance will be placed on the early CCL games.
