The summer continues to heat up for FC Dallas as the month of July rolls into the fold.
June came and went with FCD advancing in the US Open Cup and picking up four points in three games during the regular season.
FCD will have six regular season games and one US Open Cup game this month. Here is the breakdown of those games.
Orlando City - home - July 4 (8:00 pm)
The first game up on the docket is the July 4th meeting with former FCD midfielder Brek Shea and Orlando. The Lions have struggled on the road this season with only one win coming away from Florida.
San Jose Earthquakes - away - July 8 (9:30 pm)
Things get fun as FCD follows that game up with a two game road trip on the West coast starting next Friday with a game in San Jose. The Quakes and FCD have already played one another twice this season with the two games ending in a draw.
Seattle Sounders FC - away - July 13 (9:30 pm)
Following the Friday match will be a Wednesday night date in Seattle against Clint Dempsey and the Sounders. FCD already scored a 2-0 win against Seattle earlier this season but have struggled in recent trips to the Emerald City.
Chicago Fire - home - July 16 (8:00 pm)
The middle of the month brings us the Brimstone Cup date with the Fire. Currently the Windy City club sits last in the Eastern Conference and last place overall in the league. FCD has not gotten the better of the Fire in recent years though, with the last win coming in 2011.
Houston Dynamo - away - USOC - July 20 (7:30 pm)
Right now it could be argued that this is the biggest game on the schedule in July. The quarterfinals of the USOC against our biggest rivals. We all know what happened the last time FCD went to Houston back in March and the two sides slogged through a long rain delay last month in a 1-1 draw.
Colorado Rapids - away - July 23 (8:00 pm)
If the tension between the Rapids and FCD was high in the USOC, just wait until they meet later this month in the regular season for the first time in 2016. Colorado gave FCD a lot of trouble last season and are currently the league leaders in points. This will also be the first time we’ll likely see Tim Howard and Jermaine Jones together on the field against FCD too.
Vancouver Whitecaps - home - July 31 (5:00 pm)
The sixth and final game in the month will be another big one at home against Vancouver, a team FCD has had their way with in Frisco over the years. Vancouver is currently seven points back in the standings but are reportedly about to make a few moves in the transfer window that could shake up this roster.
Six games equals a big 18 points available. Not to mention that USOC date in Houston towards the end of the month. To say this is a big month may be a massive understatement. If FCD can get 10 points and advance in the USOC, I think that would be a solid result. That means getting the three wins at home and finding a draw or possibly two on the road would certainly keep them in the Supporter’s Shield race.
What do you all think is doable for FCD in July? Do you think a summer swoon could happen with all the games?
