FC Dallas vs Orlando City SC: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

FC Dallas looks to remain hot as they host Orlando.

MLS: FC Dallas at Orlando City SC Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas remains at home for a July 4th clash with one of the newer sides in MLS in Orlando City SC. The Lions are making their first trip to Frisco during the regular season.

Both sides are coming off wins last weekend with FCD knocking off RSL 2-0 at home. Orlando won a wild won in Florida as they beat Toronto 3-2 on a last minute goal.

FC Dallas notes:

Last year against Orlando. FCD squared off in the first meeting between these two clubs last year in Florida. Dallas picked up a 2-0 win thanks to a strong outing from Mauro Diaz and Fabian Castillo.

Injury update. So far the only injury to really discuss is that of Zach Loyd. The veteran defender has not resumed normal training and will be out for this one once again as he recovers from a concussion.

Key player for FCD: Maxi Urruti. He finally got the monkey off his back in the midweek USOC win over Colorado in scoring his first goal since March. This is the kind of game that he needs to step up and be the key scorer that FCD expected him to be at the start of the year.

Biggest question: Will the defense show up strong in this one?

I’m not nearly as worried about the heat or the short turnaround in the schedule from Wednesday, for me it comes down to the defense in this one. Can FC Dallas (or Orlando for that matter) step up on the defensive side? Orlando has one of the better attacks in the league with Kaka, Cyle Larin and Kevin Molino. Matt Hedges and Walker Zimmerman will need to command the defensive side of the field while the fullbacks for FCD need to make sure they track back enough to slow down the quality that Orlando has up top.
