Rankings Recap: No changes following the draw in Colorado

A draw in Colorado doesn’t boost FCD to the top of all the rankings just yet.

MLS: FC Dallas at Colorado Rapids Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

MLS is breaking for a couple days here this week for the annual All-Star Game. At the break we see FC Dallas firmly atop two Power Rankings, and close to the top in the others. Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: Eight games in 29 days across all competitions is a brutal schedule. Dallas handled it with aplomb, going 6-1-1 and finishing with a precious point at Colorado. Things get much harder, however, if/when Fabian Castillo leaves.

Soccer America Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: A belter from distance by Victor Ulloa with eight minutes remaining earned FCD its 14th road point, which leads the Western Conference. After he set up that chance, Michael Barrios nearly won the game with a low rip that required an excellent save. Ranking: 2 (last week 2)

Comment: It took an 82nd-minute rocket off the foot of normally goal-shy Victor Ulloa to secure a point in Colorado, but any road point is a good one in MLS, and Dallas still top the West.

SBI Soccer Ranking: 2 (last week 2)

Comment: Victor Ulloa uncorked a magnificent tying goal late in Saturday’s clash, snatching a draw from FC Dallas. It remains to be seen how the team fares following the reported sale of Fabian Castillo, though. Castillo is truly one of the league’s elite talents, and the club’s title push will be much more of an uphill climb without the livewire of a winger.
