Workhorse of the Week vs. Colorado Rapids

Congratulations to FC Dallas newcomer, Aubrey David, with a Workhorse of the Week win in his first two starts last week. He looks like a great pickup for this squad.

FC Dallas had another busy, potentially murderous week.

In Open Cup play, which had us visit the hated Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas nearly had their nightmare scenario come into play - extra time facing an away trip to Colorado in league action that weekend. At the death though, Fabian Castillo worked his magic and helped the team advance to face LA Galaxy in their pursuit of silverware. It was beautiful work by FC Dallas overall, as Houston threatened over the course of 90.

Back in league action, FC Dallas had a tough road test - the Colorado Rapids, unbeaten in 14 games. As we know, FC Dallas does not always play well against Colorado at Colorado. It's just a damn hard place to play. Saturday night, though, FC Dallas did a solid job. The defense was solid, despite a massive mistake from veteran Atiba Harris that gave Colorado essentially an open net to take the lead. It was Victor Ulloa off the bench with a world class strike that leveled the score. FCD looked the better team all around at Colorado and probably should have earned a full 3 points, but for now, they got what they needed to keep on pace to win the Western Conference.

I can recommend Carlos Gruezo and Kellyn Acosta for huge performances over the course of the week. Walker Zimmerman and Matt Hedges were both tremendous workhorses. Maybe you want to throw love on Victor Ulloa for a great substitute performance on Saturday night. Or maybe you want to honor Fabian Castillo on potentially last opportunity to win the Workhorse of the Week for this team.

A few extra thoughts:

- Getterson has yet to arrive, and with the anticipation that he will wear No. 9, we have to wonder what kind of impact he will make with the team. With Fabian Castillo rumored to be on the move away from the club, is Getterson an answer on the wing? Who else might step up to fill those speedy shoes?

- How can FC Dallas reward faithful fans after losing one of their beloved players who has grown to be a great soccer play in his few years with us? Another big name? More investment in homegrown players? Another savvy young DP?

- With Castillo (probably) gone, do you think this hurts or helps (or neither) FCD's chances of winning the Cup?
