The Texas Derby hits the 2016 US Open Cup tomorrow night as FC Dallas takes on the Houston Dynamo in the quarterfinal round.
The two sides have already played twice this season with the Dynamo getting the better end of the deal in the first meeting of the year with a 5-0 blowout win.
Houston advanced to this round on a win over last year’s Cup champions Sporting KC while FCD downed the Colorado Rapids in extra time.
FC Dallas notes:
Injury update. The only injury is still with Zach Loyd. No new progress on where he is at in the concussion protocols.
Key player for FCD: Matt Hedges. The previous match in Houston was no picnic for Hedges and FCD. This is one of those games that he has to step up and lead this defense to a strong performance.
Biggest question: How much roster juggling actually happens?
We talked about it earlier in the day on here with what our staff thinks the team should do. Is this game truly more important than a clash with Colorado this weekend? Maybe. I’m willing to bet that Oscar Pareja continues to juggle his lineup a good bit for this one, maybe not to the degree that he did in Seattle last week but not far from it.
