The Brimstone Cup is coming back to Texas as FC Dallas downed the Chicago Fire on Saturday night 3-1. This marks the first time since 2011 that FC Dallas claimed the trophy with the Windy City rivals.

FC Dallas was lead on the night by their Argentine trio of Mauro Diaz, Maxi Urruti and Mauro Rosales, each had a goal in the victory over the Fire.

Fabian Castillo got the scoring started for FC Dallas in the 23rd minute of the match on his clever passing from the left wing. The Colombian found Urruti, who beat his man in the middle of the penalty box to put the score at 1-0.

The lead doubled just before halftime in the 41st minute on a goal from Diaz. Kellyn Acosta found Diaz in the penalty box on a simple pass that Diaz took and cleverly put the ball in the back of the net.

Dallas nearly had a 3-0 lead in the 56th minute on a play from Michael Barrios. The Colombian winger got the ball on the end line and attempted a tough-angled shot that didn’t find its way into the back of the net.

Chicago was able to pull one back in the first minute of stoppage time though on a free kick goal from former FC Dallas midfielder Arturo Alvarez.

Dallas then doubled the lead back up just a minute later on a goal from Rosales. Once again Castillo set up the play as he sped past a defender and then put in a great cross to Rosales who took a first-touch shot to make it 3-1.

The win extended FC Dallas’ home unbeaten streak to 16 games.

Dallas will return to action next week as they travel to Houston for the quarterfinals of the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
