General thoughts on the game:
It was a very difficult night for us, starting [four] minutes into the match with a red card and a penalty kick. It made the game very difficult, very early. After that, we did not have the reaction we needed. We found a team in Seattle that had a lot of intensity. They did a lot of good things. In those moments, we could not find the rhythm of the game. We have to give them the credit. Throughout the game, we could not find that rhythm. We have to walk out of here today accepting that our rival was much better.
On the lineup changes…
I have a group of players that has 37 points. Nobody has given them those points. They have fought hard throughout this season and despite today’s terrible result, I’m backing them up 100%. They had a difficult week of traveling but we’re not going to use that as an excuse. Instead we are going to look at what we have done. In this group, I have players that have this team on the top of the table. We’re going to turn the page on today. We’re going to face Chicago in three days. That is the league. Today will humble us a little.
On playing with 10 men for 86 minutes…
Difficult circumstances indeed… For us, it was difficult to bounce back after the penalty kick and the red card. We did not adjust well and that is our responsibility. At the same time, in the context of what has happened this week, all this traveling made it even more difficult. Give the credit to Seattle. They played very well. They did a lot of things today that we could not control. We could not control. It is a bad result. It is tough to take. It sends a message that there is a lot of work to do still. But, again, the group that I have in the locker room has put together 37 points. I am very proud of those guys.
