The jammed schedule moves on for FC Dallas as they remain on the west coast for a midweek match against the Seattle Sounders.
Seattle comes into this game off a weekend loss to the LA Galaxy, while FCD is currently on a 315 minute shutout streak following a 1-0 win over San Jose.
FC Dallas notes:
Injury update. The only injury is still with Zach Loyd. No new progress on where he is at in the concussion protocols.
Scoring first. Since last season, FC Dallas has a 24-1-2 record when scoring first. Dallas’ only loss was a 2‐1 defeat to the LA Galaxy on Aug. 15 (Dallas’ last home loss).
Attacking minded. According to the club’s game notes, FCD’s offense ranks second in MLS in goals (31), second in shots on goal (100) and first in corner kicks (108).
Key player for FCD: Matt Hedges. We know Seattle is going to try to go down the middle with Jordan Morris and Clint Dempsey, so clogging up the center of the field will be key. If Dempsey and Morris are shutout on the night, I’d expect the rest of the Sounders to be quiet as well.
Biggest question: Does FCD swap out some players for this one?
We discussed it in the Squad Selection piece earlier in the day but it really is the most important thought going into this one. The lineup that Oscar Pareja has used these last few weeks has worked very well but with a game on the weekend and two more next week, resting some players on turf should be done.
