Well, here we go! It's officially transfer rumor season again! This time there are rumors surfacing that Mexican side Club Atlas are interested in signing FC Dallas defender Walker Zimmerman.
Zimmerman, who recently re-signed with Dallas in the offseason after initially holding out because he wanted more playing time, is now a regular starter for head coach Oscar Pareja's side. The center back has been earning praise during the first half of the MLS season, especially for his particular knack to win balls in the air, and evidently clubs are taking notice.
Initially, Cristina Alexander tweeted about Atlas' interest in Zimmerman.
Then, Tom Marshall added that he was also hearing about the Liga MX club's interest from a separate source.
This rumor is picking up steam and seems to be more true than others. Selling Zimmerman would be a big loss for Dallas, who doesn't have much depth at all in the center back department.
But, would FCD Technical Director Fernando Clavijo sell Zimmerman? Would Zimmerman want to leave even though he's playing almost every minute of this season for a club that is one of the favorites to make it to the MLS Cup final and make a push in CONCACAF Champions League? That remains to be seen. What do you think?
