Goal Breakdown: How Mauro Diaz set up Fabian Castillo

New, 1 comment

Time to take a closer look at the wonderful goal scored by Fabian Castillo.

After a couple weeks of no goals to breakdown, we’re back to look at another fantastic FC Dallas goal from last weekend in the 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake.

As nice as the first goal was by Kellyn Acosta, the real highlight of the night had to be the goal scored by Fabian Castillo on the play set up masterfully by Mauro Diaz.

If you’ve been living under a rock these last few days, here is the full play which began on a Chris Seitz clearance out of the box. Phanuel Kavita would clear the ball back out of his defensive end where Carlos Gruezo would head the ball towards Diaz. The little magician did the rest to set up Castillo as you see here:

You have to watch this pass one more time. Or just put it on repeat if you want.

After that pass, Castillo did the rest as he beat his defender and put in this great shot to the far post. A thing he has developed nicely over the last year in his game.

Some may wonder about Castillo’s body language while he is out there but I think the smile on his face tells it all in his celebration.

What did you make of this goal? Which was more impressive, the pass from Diaz or the finish from Castillo?
