FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja

General thoughts on the game:

It was a very professional performance by the boys. I think their respect for the opponent and the game just gave themthe three points and a very good performance, especially in the second half when we were more consistent in creating chances and controlling the game. The first half I found energy, and I found a team that wanted to manage the tempo of the game, but we didn’t have the frequency that we wanted. At the same time, we created some options and we were very dangerous going forward, obviously, trying to take advantage of our speed. The second half was more level. The performance was more consistent in all areas. Their respect for the game, their professionalism and the way we controlled the game were the highlights for tonight’s performance.

On Fighting for First Place and the dangerous play of Barrios, Castillo and Diaz:

I was sticking to our strengths. We know who we are, we know what the identity of this team is and we know what has brought us to this point in the last two years. We are always fighting for first place, which is not easy in Major League Soccer.

On Chris Seitz:

I see a lot of confidence. I thought just keeping the zero tonight helped him a lot. Chris is a very professional player and I’m happy to see him get that result tonight. He understands that we give the position to the one who deserves it, and it’s something to fight for during the week and during the games. Chris understands that and he responds very well to it.

On Alex Zendejas' transfer to Chivas Guadalajara

This is a fundamental step for the Academy players and I think that [Alex Zendejas' transfer to Chivas Guadalajara] is well deserved. For the project that we are developing here, it's fundamental. The academy players need to know that they don't only have the option to play for FC Dallas like they've dreamed but that they can also be transferred to other leagues. It's their future and we respect that.

FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta

General thoughts on the match…

It was a good match for us. We fought hard. It was a great way to bounce back from last week’s result. The guys battled hard, and we capitalized on our chances. We were sound in the back. Overall, it was a great result for us.

Was that the easiest goal you ever scored?

I would say so… My eyes got really big. I was a little nervous because I was so wide open I thought I might miss it. I’m glad [Michael] Barrios found me with the pass and I was able to put the ball away.

On the quick restart that led to his goal…

I was just paying attention. We were able to catch them sleeping a little bit. Barrios made a good run in behind, [Mauro] Diaz found him with the ball and I kind of followed up on it.

On the 14-game home unbeaten streak…

The fans were tremendous. They gave us the man advantage we needed tonight. They gave us the energy and the motivation to keep going. It’s a high note for us, but hopefully we can use it as motivation to continue to get results here at home.

Did playing in the heat give you an edge?

In a sense... teams come down here and they’re not used to playing in the heat. That is a challenge for them. We need to use that to our advantage and keep pushing. I felt okay. I feel like I caught my second wind. I looked over at [the Real Salt Lake players] their faces. I know they had a long stretch of road games and they just played on Wednesday, as well. I saw some heavy legs tonight. Our guys looked pretty fresh. It paid dividends for us tonight and we were able to capitalize.

FC Dallas midfielder Fabian Castillo

On getting the win…

It felt great. I worked hard all week to be able to score goals, get the win and the clean sheet. The entire team feels really good about the win.

How good is this team when Mauro Diaz, Fabian Castillo and Michael Barrios are all clicking?

When we are all clicking, we feel like one of the strongest teams in the league. When we are all at that level… When we put in all the work during the week to accomplish that… But I also feel like we have room to improve. We still have some work to do.
