EDIT: FC Dallas have officially announced the transfer of Zendejas.
The summer transfer window talk is about to heat up here. New reports have emerged that FC Dallas is on the verge of selling US youth international and Homegrown player Alejandro Zendejas to Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara.
Goal.com is reporting that the transfer deal could be worth around $500k for FC Dallas. A decent amount of money for a kid that has only appeared in a FCD uniform eight times since signing in 2014.
Zendejas has been out all season long with a groin injury. He only recently began training again with the first team.
It will be interesting to see if this deal goes through considering Chivas’ stance on fielding a team with only Mexican players. I would imagine for this deal to go through, Zendejas will have to pledge not to appear for the US on any level ever again.
This certainly is interesting news but definitely not a bad business move for FCD as it will open up a roster slot and give the team some extra money to work with this summer. The nice thing about his HGP status is that FCD will get 3/4 of the fee, which can be converted into allocation money.
What do you make of FCD selling off a HGP like Zendejas here? Upset to see them part with a young player so easily?
