After the Copa America break, MLS is back in action which means it is time to look back at the latest Power Rankings from around the web. A couple places didn’t do one this week, so we’re left to examine the three big ones that did. And yes, the ESPNFC one is laughable.
MLSSoccer.com Ranking: 5 (last week 3)
Comment: Dallas were pretty clearly robbed of a goal, and then had a questionable offside call nullify another good look. And then... they fell apart. It happens, of course, but we expected more maturity from a team that's pushing for a Shield.
Soccer America Ranking: 2 (last week 2)
Comment: Stunned by two goals late in the first half after playing a solid half-hour, FCD lost for the first time in the last six games. Mauro Diaz’s entry after halftime produced mild improvement in the attack but still FCD failed to score in a road game for the sixth time this season. It has won each of the three road games in which it has scored.
ESPNFC.com Ranking: 9 (last week 5)
Comment: Despite taking 13 shots in Kansas City on Sunday, FC Dallas forced just once save from Sporting keeper Tim Melia. If FCD comes up short of a title this season, inefficiency on the attacking end will be the reason.
