The news on Zach Loyd continues to be a little grim as we learned yesterday from reporter Stephen Hunt that the veteran defender picked up a broken nose in his collision last week in the US Open Cup win over Oklahoma City.
Per Pareja, Loyd suffered a broken nose when he got the concussion. Full quote to follow.

Pareja did state that his nose is fine but the concussion protocols that he is adhering to could keep him out longer. The FC Dallas manager labeled the concussion as a big one in this quote, which is not a great sign for a quick recovery.
No timetable has been given by the club on when he will return to action but given the broken nose and concussion combo that he received, I would estimate at least a week if not two before he fully returns to the field. (I say this because I experienced this same combination twice in my playing days, so it does take some time to heal depending on the severity of the concussion)
For now, the club will likely continue using the tower combo in the middle with Matt Hedges and Walker Zimmerman. If anything, the more time those two receive together on the field with one another the better their partnership will be.
