Bad bounces, poor calls from the center official and another goal given up on a set piece plagued FC Dallas on the road Sunday evening as they lost 2-0 to Sporting Kansas City.

SKC got two goals late in the first half after Dallas had two clear chances on goal that didn’t go in and one that did.

FC Dallas near had a goal in the first 15 minute as a ball was played back to Tim Melia that clearly crossed the goal line by two feet but the center official did not all it in. Seconds later Fabian Castillo had a one-on-one chance against Melia but instead of shooting the ball the Colombian laid the ball off to Michael Barrios but Melia would come up big for SKC.

In the 30th minute, Castillo had another good chance on goal as Michael Barrios carved out the SKC defense to free up Castillo. The Dallas winger got free in on goal and his shot made it past Melia but would hit the post and deflect back to the SKC keeper.

SKC got the breakthrough in the 43rd minute on a set piece. Benny Feilhaber lofted a ball to the far post that Lawrence Olum would get on the end of to give the home side a lead.

Sporting got another goal minutes later in the 45th minute as Feilhaber was brought down by Atiba Harris. Feilhaber shot the ball to the right as Seitz would guess the other way.

Dallas struggled to get anything going in the second half as Oscar Pareja brought on Mauro Diaz and Carlos Lizarazo to help with the attack. Neither were able create many chances on goal.

The best chance in the second half for Dallas came in the 89th minute on a great ball from Diaz to the back post run of Zimmerman. The Dallas defender’s header would go just wide of the post.

FC Dallas returns to action next Saturday as they return home to host rivals Real Salt Lake.
