FC Dallas vs Sporting KC: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

Can FC Dallas end their bad run of play in KC this weekend?

MLS: Sporting KC at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

After a nearly two-week break from league play, FC Dallas is back in action as they square off against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday evening.

Both teams were busy on Wednesday night in the US Open Cup. OKC pushed FCD into penalty kicks, while Minnesota forced SKC into extra time. Both MLS sides came out on top but were each forced to use some key players for the full 120 minutes.

FC Dallas notes:

Last time against SKC. It wasn’t that long ago that Sporting was in town to visit FCD. The good guys came away with a 2-1 result, thanks to late goals from Michael Barrios and Mauro Rosales.

Injury update. The injury report may be as close to being empty as possible. But there is one player to update on as Zach Loyd is indeed out of Sunday’s game with a concussion following Wednesday’s nasty collision with OKC’s Michael Harris.

Key player for FCD: Mauro Diaz. The one thought on Diaz going into this one may center around how much he actually plays. He went the full 120 minutes on Wednesday night against OKC and was lucky not to come away with any injuries. Diaz is still the main guy to get the attack going, so if SKC locks him down, the offense may struggle.

Biggest question: Can FCD end their bad run of games in KC?

It has been nearly five years since FCD last picked up a win in Kansas City with the last victory coming in 2011. KC has practically dominated things at home against Dallas but the short rest, injury situation and bad form that SKC is on may be in FCD’s favor to at least come out of this one with a point.
