FC Dallas is back in action tonight as they square off against USL affiliates Oklahoma City Energy FC in the fourth round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
The two sides are no strangers to one another as they met in this round a year ago. FC Dallas got the best of their new affiliates on that night by winning 4-1 thanks to goals from Michael Barrios, David Texeira and Fabian Castillo.
The two sides also met twice this year in preseason play with FC Dallas winning both of those encounters with a 2-1 scoreline.
OKC has had to go to extra time in both of their two US Open Cup games so far. In the second round they outlasted PDL club Mississippi Brilla in penalty kicks 10-9 before beating cross-town rivals Rayo OKC from the NASL in extra time.
FC Dallas notes:
Lineup selection. One question going into this match will certainly be Oscar Pareja’s lineup choices. After having a little over a week off from league play, Pareja could use a strong lineup against the USL side. Or he could save some guys like Mauro Diaz, Fabian Castillo and Maximiliano Urruti until the weekend when the team travels to Kansas City.
Injuries. Right now FCD may be as close to 100% in the injury department as they ever have been this season. Both Michael Barrios and Alejandro Zendejas have been training this week and are as Pareja put it “part of the equation”. Ryan Hollingshead is the only question mark, as he has apparently been going through league protocols on a concussion he picked up in the Houston game.
