June is finally here and we're going to be at the halfway point in our season with FC Dallas when it is all said and done. Right now the club sits second in the league standings with 27 points after 15 games. June offers us a lighter schedule with three regular season games and a US Open Cup date with some Oklahoma City team.
Houston Dynamo - home - June 2 (8:00 pm)
First up is our big rematch in the Texas Derby. We all know very well what Houston did the last time these two teams faced off back in March. Thankfully, both teams are far away from where they were in March as the Dynamo recently parted ways with their manager Owen Coyle and everything about their play seems to be lacking these days as they are at the bottom of the Western Conference.
Sporting Kansas City - away - June 19 (4:00 pm)
The lone road trip this month will come after the Copa America break. Part of me wishes we were getting this team before the break as they're currently in a bit of a downward spiral. They have one win in their last 10 games with seven losses coming in that stretch. Children's Mercy Park is never an easy venue to play in but SKC hasn't looked nearly as good at home this season as they have the last couple of years.
Real Salt Lake - home - June 25 (7:00 pm)
This may be the game I am most excited by this month, even more so than the Texas Derby game this week. RSL started the season off very strongly as they were unbeaten in their first six games. But like SKC, they've begun to hit a bit of a snag in their season as they've lost four out of their last six games.
Rayo OKC/OKC Energy - USOC - TBD
We've touched briefly on this game already but the USOC is always an important tournament for this club since their owner's name is on it. No matter who they get in the fourth round, it should be a win.
It doesn't seem like a busy month but it will once we get going. Only three games on the regular season slate, six points is a minimum in my mind for this month. Maybe even seven should be the minimum. If they want a Supporters' Shield or at least some home field advantages in the post season again this year, this could be a month that they need to sweep.
What do you think is realistic this month? Three wins? Two wins and a draw? How confident are you feeling about the USOC run too?
