General thoughts on the match

I thought it was a very conservative game for both teams in the first half we tried to have the initiative and I thought we controlled most of the half. In the second half, I thought San Jose came out with energy in the first ten minutes but we controlled it again. I say that it’s another one I feel pleased with especially tactically the way our defenders played today. Getting a point in San Jose is very valuable for us and both teams had some absences that obviously hurt but we’ll take the point. As I said, it’s a very difficult place, San Jose has done a terrific job at home and we were able to control it. Not giving goals away today was a big assignment and the boys did a great job in that part.

How difficult was it for both teams missing players and making it disjointed?

It’s difficult for sure. The connections in the teams are important, when you’re missing players that are normally playing obviously hurts the teams but from our end we are pleased with the people who started and once again we get a very valuable point and that’s important

What did you think about Matt Hedges first game back after an injury layoff?

I was very pleased. I think Matt did a terrific job with Walker in the middle controlling Amarikwa and Barrett and then in the second half with Jahn. I think we were able to be solid defensively and I didn’t feel any point that we would be fragile. The boys did a good job and obviously having Matt back is a plus.

On tonight’s match...

I think for us going into it we know we wanted to keep the shutout and be disciplined at the back but also go forward and take chances. I think the game was there for the taking to be honest but we hold our heads high on the result and hope to make it a four point week at home on Thursday. We’re happy with the shutout which is always good but we’re looking to get three on Thursday.

Is it a sign of the advancement of the team that there is a little bit of disappointment with the result?

It’s a mentality and it’s what we have to have. WE know anywhere we go we’re going for three points and that’s our mindset. That’s the way we play and you saw us throw numbers forward at the end to try and get it. We’re a good enough team to win this game. We’re happy with a point though you’ll always take it.
