FC Dallas remains on the road this weekend as they get set to battle the San Jose Earthquakes for the second time this season. Both teams are coming off positive road results from last weekend. Dallas picked up three points in New England thanks to a four-goal output while the Quakes got a late Fatai Alashe equalizer against their California rivals in LA.
FC Dallas notes:
Last time against Portland. The two already played once this season in a 2-2 draw back in April.
Injury update. We should see Matt Hedges return but the bigger questions will likely still center around Michael Barrios, Mauro Diaz and Maximiliano Urruti. Both trained this week and Diaz was really held out of last week's game for a precautionary reason with the turf in New England. Urruti may still be another week away. The same could be said about Barrios.
Key player for FCD: Fabian Castillo. We finally got a goal out of Castillo last week but this is going to be one of those games that he has to step up and make the offense his own in a sense. His speed on the wings will be a key for the Dallas attack on Saturday as the Quakes have had issues in the past in dealing with him.
Biggest question: Can FCD take advantage of all of San Jose's absences?
While last weekends' result in New England was much needed, there may be few excuses out there for FCD not to get a result in San Jose tomorrow given how many players the Quakes could be missing. San Jose is expected to be without Chris Wondolowski, Clarence Goodson, Quincey Amarikwa, Innocent, Simon Dawkins and possibly Victor Bernardez.
