It has been quite the week for Kellyn Acosta. First his two assist effort in the 4-2 win over the New England Revolution was his first career assists. Then the news broke today that he was named to Jurgen Klinsmann's United States roster for the upcoming friendly on Wednesday night in Frisco against Ecuador.
The game is a warm-up for next month's Copa America Centenario for the Americans as Acosta will potentially square off against fellow midfield partner Carlos Gruezo.
Acosta was not named to Klinsmann's 23-man roster for Copa America but was on the preliminary roster. He was listed as a defender on the US roster despite playing mostly a central midfield role for FC Dallas this season.
The Plano native could still find his way to the US squad for Copa America. Timmy Chandler picked up an injury during a game with Frankfort. If he ends up being hurt for the tournament, Klinsmann could replace him with Acosta or anyone else on the preliminary roster that wasn't named to the 23-man team.
Are you excited to see Acosta suit it up for the US on Wednesday night against Gruezo and Ecuador?
