After a three game road winless and goalless streak, FC Dallas bounced back with a 2-1 win against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday. Can the team start a winning streak by taking down the Seattle Sounders on Saturday?
Midweek game: The Sounders didn't have to play a midweek game, so they should be well rested. For FC Dallas, Victor Ulloa didn't see any time on Wednesday. Expect him to return to the starting lineup. Will Atiba Harris get the start in place of either Ryan Hollingshead or Maynor Figueroa? Maximiliano Urruti and Tesho Akindele each played 45 minutes, and a similar split might happen again.
Streaking Sounder: Rookie homegrown Jordan Morris went scoreless in his first seven professional games. Now he has a goal in 4 straight. With a goal against FC Dallas, he will set the record for rookie goals in consecutive games. Morris is keeping Designated Player Nelson Haedo Valdez on the bench.
Midfield battle: In their 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday, the Sounders deployed in a 4-3-3 with a midfield of Osvaldo Alonso, Clint Dempsey, and Erik Friberg. Sounders At Heart rated Friberg as MOTM for his ability to make the players around him better. Clint Dempsey was the most advanced, playing directly underneath Morris. Ozzie stayed home as the enforcer. Andreas Ivanschitz could also appear in the midfield, or at left wing in place of Herculez Gomez.
What can't Hollingshead do? Hollingshead finally ended FC Dallas' goal scoring drought while playing right back. Later in the game, he appeared to play forward for a few minutes. That brings the list of positions he's played to both fullback positions, winger, CAM (against Toronto in the rain game last year), forward, and goalie.
Can we get a goal from an attacker? With both goals against Portland coming from defenders, can FC Dallas get a goal from a starting attacker in the run of play this game? The last goal from Urruti, Fabian Castillo, Michael Barrios, or Mauro Diaz came nearly a month ago against Sporting Kansas City. I'm looking for a goal out of our front four to get the attack back on track.
