It was a slow week for the BigDSoccer crew last week with all of us predicting victories at home for FC Dallas only to be let down by Mauro not making the game day squad.
Drew earned himself a bonus point for predicting that Columbus would score off a corner kick and I gave myself one for being the only person to predict that Tesho would score late off the bench (toot toot).
The standings have not changed too much from last week, but a few of us are gaining on the top three and all it takes is one good week.
Scoring breakdown for the season will be implemented using the following:
1 for predicting the correct result
3 points bonus for predicting the exact score
3 point bonus (optional) for nailing the correct scorers for FC Dallas only.
Maximum available weekly points are 7 points.
|Andy Jaeger||Win||3||0||The return of Mauro Diaz brings the FCD offense back to life. Castillo scores early in the first half to get the momentum going. Urruti scores on a set piece to start the second half, and Tesho Akindele scores in the 80th minute as FC Dallas turns in their most dominant performance of the season so far.|
|Ben Lyon||Win||2||0||Diaz is probably back this weekend, so let's give him and Urrutí a goal. Bernardez earns a record 3 red cards in the game- 1 for DOGSO and 2 for prior malfeasance. Kenny Cooper will think he got off easy.|
|Cody Gamond||Win||3||0||Urruti nabs a goal early to put the hoops on the front foot. A penalty before half time gives Diaz a goal. Late in the second half Castillo slips away from Bernardez and slots one in on the counter.|
|Drew Epperley||Win||2||1||Diaz returns to the lineup, sparking the attack with Barrios and Urruti scoring this weekend. San Jose gets a cheap goal off another set piece mistake.|
|Jared Tilley||Win||2||1||Mauro is back and takes control of the match. Barrios grabs the first goal by cutting inside, at the 18 yard box and beating the goalie with a finesse shot. The second goal comes in the second half by Urruti with a nice through ball from Diaz. San Jose is able to get a goal back in the 80th minute. Wondo is able to score a goal from a scrum inside the box. Dallas holds on and gets the win.|
|Jason Poon||Win||2||0||A ball is kicked around for 90+minutes. Something about Canes and pizza for the after party.|
|Mohammad Bushnaq||Win||2||1||FC Dallas always seems to struggle and leave it late against San Jose since they are largely willing to give FCD the ball. This one is no different. San Jose strikes first and FCD claws back through Castillo and Gruezo for the win.|
|Nathan Hill||Win||2||0||This is a fun one with three red cards, two penalties, and two goals from the spot for FCD. After the game, Mauro and Wondo and the rest of the teams meet up for a late night game of tractor chicken similar to the celebrated film, Footloose. Mauro wins, gets the girl, and earns the begrudging respect of his opponent.|
|Phil Luetchford||Win||3||1||At home with a healthy Diaz, Dallas wins. That's just the way it is. Castillo, Urruti, and Barrios will each score with Diaz assisting all three as Dallas creates 17 shots, 8 on goal. The absence of Clarence Goodson really affects San Jose, as Dom Kinnear instructs his defensive line to sit extremely deep, opening up tons of space for Diaz to operate. With Anibal Godoy's bite missing from the midfield, youngsters Fatai Alashe and Tommy Thompson get overrun. In the second half with the score already 3-0, MPG gets fouled on the right flank outside of the area. His free kick cross is redirected in by Chris Wondolowski for a garbage goal that has no effect on the game.|
|FCD takes it in a goal fest. Mauro makes all the difference as Castillo x2, Rosales, and Urruti smash it into the net. MPG is on form though and grabs one goal and assists another to Wondo.|
|Maxi Urruti scores early on a defensive error, Amerikwa bags an equalizer but Fabian Castillo scores the winner early in the second half in a very competitive match.|
|Taylor Hester||Win||3||1||If Mauro's back, so is FCD's dominance. Mauro and Fabi x2 the goals. Amarikwa does something crazy and scores somehow.|
