All signs are pointing in a positive direction for FC Dallas with regards to Mauro Diaz's health. The midfielder was not listed on the club's injury report ahead of Saturday's game against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Last Friday Diaz picked a knock in training that kept him out of FCD's 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew SC. Diaz attempted to participate in the game but failed a pregame physical with head trainer Fabian Bazan.
Diaz returned to training this week. Goal.com's Jon Arnold caught up with head coach Oscar Pareja about Diaz after training on Wednesday.
"Today was a very good day for Mauro," Pareja said after training Wednesday. "I’m not worried about (it) because he has no tear or anything, it’s just…fatigue. It’s made me be happy also just to see other players working and letting him rehab well.
FCD has always taken a cautionary approach to Diaz. Last season he missed several games due to injuries. Late last season he missed several games due to thigh problems. This doesn't appear to be the same issue as that one but it is worth keeping an eye on.
Do you expect Diaz to return this weekend or would you hold him out for another week to be safe?
