Recap Rankings: How the loss to Vancouver moved FC Dallas

FC Dallas stumbles a bit in the latest rankings.

MLS: FC Dallas at Vancouver Whitecaps FC Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

It was a rough outing on the road last weekend for FC Dallas in their 3-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps. As a result, FCD was on the move yet again in the Power Rankings. Ranking: 2 (last week 2)

Comment: The Whitecaps managed a 3-0 wipeout of the league leaders this past Saturday at BC Place, pushing Dallas just slightly down the rankings. Still, they sit at the top of the standings with 17 points.

Soccer America Ranking: 4 (last week 2)

Comment: Maybe FCD is a big ragged -- no other team has played nine league matches -- and it can blame this loss -- which stopped a six-game unbeaten streak -- on an own goal by Maynor Figueroa that opened the scoring, a few missed chances and a couple of excellent saves by the opposing keeper. Mauro Diaz made his first appearance in nearly a month and played 19 minutes. Ranking: 1 (last week 1)

Comment: A lack of ruthlessness in both penalty areas was the prime reason for Dallas' 3-0 defeat in Vancouver. While there are days when the finishing isn't there, the domino effect created by defender Matt Hedges' knee injury is something to keep an eye on going forward. Ranking: 2 (Last week 1)

Comment: A 3–0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps isn’t as bad as the scoreline makes it look. FC Dallas had several great chances to score in this game, but Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted was truly on his game. Dallas played well, the Whitecaps just played better.

SBI Soccer Ranking: 4 (last week 2)

Comment: In a game that’s scoreline is slightly misleading, FC Dallas was swarmed by a previously-struggling Whitecaps team. While slightly sloppy defensively, FC Dallas’ issues came on the attacking end as David Ousted stopped shot after shot. Going forward, FCD will need to be a bit crisper in the final third if they hope to get on any real run.
