General thoughts on the match

We’re disappointed. It was one of those nights when we wanted we created chances and I thought the team looked good but we were not fine in the last third. We didn’t finalize it in the first half. One [chance] that Vancouver had and one of our mistakes and they took it…That’s the game, we have to accept it and it has happened to us before when we don’t create as many options and are sharp and effective and tonight Vancouver was very effective and I have to recognize that.

How would getting an early goal in either half have changed the game?

We created a lot of chances. I have to be honest with my players and see how they execute a plan that we put together. We were just not sharp in the final third or in the box. We had chances in front of the goalkeeper but that’s the game. I was happy with the way we created those chances but not finishing in front cost us three points.

This is the first of three straight on the road, what do you need to work on for the next two?

This group has been recognized as a team that has a lot of character and I have no doubt about that. We have a group of players that can bounce back. We have proved that. What we’re looking for in the next games is just to get points. It’s not an easy journey in this league. You see how competitive the games are in this league and especially conference games. We obviously want to win all our games that we compete in but today we’re going home with empty pockets and we’ll see. Next week we prepare for New York and try to get points there.

What did you think of Mauro Diaz in his return to the field?

I’m glad to see him back in the field… I wanted to keep our plan with him and rehab him and have him 100% and Mauro came and he looks very good. I’m happy to have him back on the team in good form and we look forward to seeing him in the next one.

Tesho Akindele

On tonight’s match...

We had good chances before they got into the game at all and could’ve buried them in the first 15 minutes but us missing those chances gave them confidence. They came back and took advantage of it.

Walker Zimmerman

On tonight’s match

I think we come away a little bit disappointed with the result but the quality of chances we had we really could’ve put the game away early. [Vancouver] getting that first goal was unfortunate for us. We’re disappointed because we think we deserved more out of the game.

Down 1-0 at halftime you still had to feel like you could come away with a result?

For sure, the locker room was very positive. We thought we put a good first half in so the mindset was let’s get two and win the game. That was our mindset coming out in the second half.
