The history between FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps isn't a long one. Vancouver came into the league back in 2011 with Portland and immediately became an opponent that always gave Dallas fits. As the two are set to square off this weekend at BC Place, here is a look back at three memorable games between the two squads.

FC Dallas 2 - 1 Vancouver Whitecaps, April 23, 2011

The first ever meeting between these two squads was a big one. Dallas picked up the important road win but it came at a major cost to the team as David Ferreira, the reigning league MVP at the time went down with a bad injury that kept him out of the majority of the 2011 season. Lets be honest, he was never really the same after that day.

The game itself was a physical one that saw Vancouver go up early but Dallas would battle back with goals from George John (hey remember that guy!) and Eric Avila late in the match to give the visitors the go-ahead goal for the win.

(Note: finding a full highlight reel of this game was rather challenging so we're stuck with a dreadful highlight of Vancouver scoring.)

FC Dallas 3 - 1 Vancouver Whitecaps, September 7, 2013

I remember this game like it was yesterday. Not only was it a match that saw Mauro Diaz really show the rest of the league what he could potentially do but it featured an absolutely bomb of a goal from Jair Benitez.

In a way, this game had arguably two of the best goals that we've seen over the last few years with the 50-yard bomb from Benitez and the volley from Diaz.

This was a knockout round playoff match for the ages. Tesho Akindele and Michel helped lift FCD out of the knockout round and into the conference semifinals that year with a rather dramatic win over the Caps.

It did come at some controversy though. Whitecaps defender Kendall Waston was whistled for a handball in the box late in the match to help give FCD the win on the Michel penalty.
