FCD continues to sit near the top of most rankings.

MLS: Sporting KC at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas had a strong week in Week 7 play with a road in against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday and then a home win on Sunday night over Sporting Kansas City. The latest Power Ranking polls are out and here is where the club stands after eight games. Ranking: 2 (last week 3)

Comment: Maximiliano Urruti showed that he has one of the highest work rates in MLS in Portland, and the other Mauro played hero in Dallas' six-point week.

Soccer America Ranking: 2 (last week 3)

Comment: An impressive double of road win against the defending champion and efficient comeback defeat of Sporting Kansas City -- both games without Mauro Diaz -- featured goals in each game by Michael Barrios, whose game is really flying after a sluggish start to the season. Mauro Rosales came off the bench to curl a wonderful free kick for the winning goal against SKC. Ranking: 1 (last week 2)

Comment: No Mauro Diaz no problem, at least for FC Dallas at home against Sporting Kansas City. Wind and rain impacted the game, but that didn't stop Mauro Rosales from hitting a game-winning free kick, his first goal for FC Dallas. Ranking: 1 (Last week 2)

Comment: FC Dallas took Portland by storm in Wednesday’s shocking win at Providence Park, blitzing the defending champions with three goals in the opening 30 minutes. They followed that with a solid win over Kansas City at home. That they did all this without Mauro Diaz makes it even more impressive.

SBI Soccer Ranking: 2 (last week 3)

Comment: A heck of a week for FC Dallas, who took down two of the Western Conference’s elite to make yet another statement. Even without Mauro Diaz, FC Dallas continues to fly as players like Michael Barrios have stepped up in a big way. To date, FC Dallas has lived up to expectations and looks to be a real threat to the Supporters’ Shield race.
