This week, the BDS staff members are all unanimously in agreement that FC Dallas will put out the victory against their counterparts from the Eastern Conference.
Last week, Taylor catapulted to the top of the standings with a stellar five point night courtesy of his accurate prediction of a 3-0 win on the road. Gutsy prediction of party time in RFK, but it worked out for him. Jason needs to continue to predict losses and draws for this team to win. If FCD loses on Saturday, you know who to blame.
Nobody is running away with it just yet. Here are your top three ranks:
Taylor - 7 points
Ben - 6 points
Drew, Nathan, and Phil - 4 points
Scoring breakdown for the season will be implemented using the following:
1 for predicting the correct result
3 points bonus for predicting the exact score
3 point bonus (optional) for nailing the correct scorers for FC Dallas only.
Maximum available weekly points are 7 points.
|Andy Jaeger||Win||2||0||Fabian Castillo scores on a breakaway counter in the 32’ as Dallas controls the pace during the majority of the first half. Columbus gets a few good chances in the second half but the Dallas back 4 holds strong. During the 86’ Maxi Urruti puts the game on ice scoring on a perfect ball from Mauro Diaz.|
|Ben Lyon||Win||3||1||6 flights and 20,000 miles of total air travel in under a week make Harrison "Awful" and Tony "Tchancy". Whether they play or are rotated for fresher staff will make no difference as the front 3 all bag a goal.|
|Cody Gamond||Win||4||0||At home Dallas puts the struggling Crew to the sword. A 3rd straight clean sheet for Dallas. Diaz gets a goal and 2 assists, Castillo gets 1 of each. Urruti and Hedges both find themselves on the board as well.|
|Drew Epperley||Win||2||1||The counter attack option up front continues to pick up goals from Castillo and Urruti. The defense leaks in one late as Columbus exposes some weaknesses on a corner kick.|
|Jared Tilley||Win||2||1||Dallas scores first around the half hour with a quick attack through Castillo. In the 60th minute, Urruti is able to get the second goal on a counter attack. Columbus gets one back in the 80th minute but comes up short in their comeback. Bonus: Mauro and Castillo both record assists.|
|Jason Poon||Win||3||1||Urruti, Castillo, Barrios with the goals. Diaz with 3 assists.|
|Mohammad Bushnaq||Win||2||1||This one has the potential to be a let-down game, but the boys fight for a late result at home to send the faithful home happy and full (with Canes). FC Dallas scores their first on a corner kick as a belated birthday gift for the captain. Columbus equalizes early in the second half and FC Dallas pulls away in the last 15 minutes on a clinical counter attack that sets up Tesho off the bench for the win.|
|Nathan Hill||Win||1||0||Columbus are good enough to thwart FCD's potent offense, but a second half goal by Urruti is enough for the 3 points. Meanwhile, Matt Hedges begins a hunger strike in order to get a call up for the USMNT, but NASA calls first, in need of a defender who can block an incoming asteroid from destroying the earth. Hedges accepts and saves the human race from extinction. Jurgen Klinsmann remains unimpressed..|
|Phil Luetchford||Win||2||0||Columbus falls for the possession trap. At halftime, FC Dallas will have 40% possession and be leading by 2 goals. With Maynor Figueroa returning to the lineup behind him, Fabian Castillo will be untethered, like a golden god. The first goal will come from an outside of the foot throughball from the league-leading assist man, Mauro Diaz, to Castillo. On the second, Fabi will beat his marker to the endline and cross to the 6 for Maxi to smash home. In the second, Columbus will repeatedly pump the ball into the box for Kei Kamara and second half sub Conor Casey. Walker Zimmerman will nullify the threat, leading the team with 8 headed clearances.|
|CD takes it against a Columbus side that is trying to find its first win of the season. Goals from Guerzo and Diaz are enough as Ethan Finley shoots one in to make for a nervy few last minutes.|
Why not keep the shutout streak going as Urruti keeps up the good form and Castillo returns to the scoresheet.
|Taylor Hester||Win||1||0||Great game from both sides. Columbus presses, Fabi gets a goal on the counter. Defense barely holds on for 3 points.|
