We know learning about injuries with FC Dallas is always a tricky subject. Last night in FCD's 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City there was one key player missing from action that had everyone puzzled. Captain Matt Hedges was said to be a scratch from the 18 due to rest according to the club, later it was learned that he sat out due to knee irritation due to playing on turf Wednesday night in Portland.
Now we know the following thanks to Fox Sports 1's Julie Stewart-Binks.
FCDallas Matt Hedges has a torn meniscus. Timeline still to be determined, but could be out 5-6 weeks. #MLS— Julie Stewart-Binks (@JSB_FOX) April 18, 2016
So five to six weeks without Hedges is a big deal especially given the fact that the club is about to spend the next three games away from home in Vancouver, New York and Toronto.
The other side is the depth factor in the back. While the defense has looked alright in recent weeks, last night's combination of Zach Loyd and Walker Zimmerman wasn't the best in terms of communication and play. Those two will have to get super comfortable with one another in order to make it work for the next month and a half.
Best guess for a return date? Right now I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him until the rematch with Houston on June 2.
