FCD battled back after going down in the first half as they picked up goals from Michael Barrios and Mauro Rosales.
Six minutes into the match FC Dallas got their first good chance of the game on a counter attack set up by Michael Barrios on the right side of the field. Barrios brought the ball down and then made one dribble back before passing it off to Kellyn Acosta. The Dallas Homegrown looked to pass it off but instead pulled it back and fired a shot that forced SKC keeper Tim Melia to make a diving save.
SKC made the most of one of their first attempts on goal however in the 23rd minute on a corner kick from Benny Fieldhaber. The KC midfielder sent in a ball to the near post that would pass through Chris Seitz to the back post where Lawrence Olum was waiting to tap in for the game's first goal.
The goal was the third straight home game where FC Dallas gave up the first goal of the game.
FCD tied it up in the 35th minute on a play set up by Acosta on along ball forward that Maximiliano Urruti got a little touch on to spring Barrios forward where he fired a shot by Melia for his fourth goal of the season.
FCD got the lead in the 67th minute on free kick goal from Rosales. Urruti was brought down just outside the Sporting penalty box by Amadou Dia. Rosales stepped up to the plate and curled a beautiful ball past Melia to give Dallas the lead.
Sporting had their chances late in the game to tie it up. In the 90th minute Brad Davis ripped a free kick past the Dallas wall but Seitz would push it forward and out of play.
FC Dallas returns to action next weekend as they travel back to the west coast to battle the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.
