General thoughts on the match…

To have the boys work the way they did… I was very pleased. The game rewarded them for their hard work this week. Not just the three points but the three goals and having such a solid performance. We were very intelligent tactically. We held defensively when D.C. threw everything at us. We handled the pressure very well. It was a very good game in the terms of the tactics we are trying to develop.

On missing seven players to the FIFA international break…

I am blessed to coach this group of players. We have a high level of inclusion with this group. The guys that debuted today did an excellent job. Aaron Guillen and Timo Pitter came out and helped us. That is great. We were missing players for sure but the challenge always brings you opportunity. Those opportunities are taken by the ones who are prepared.

On Aaron Guillen…

Aaron did excellent. He looked like he had played a ton of games already. I have to praise the way he played tactically, today. He showed a lot of character and personality and made me feel like we are going in the right direction.

On Michael Barrios…

Mikey is putting himself in great spots. The last three games he had some options. He is always working hard. I’m not surprised to see how the game rewarded him today and gave him those two opportunities. He finished very well. The effort from Mikey is there all the time. It’s something we have working for us and I am very pleased for him today.

General thoughts on the match…

First of all, it’s always good to get three points on the road. We had a tough one on the road two weeks ago so we’ve bounced back and got three points a good result.

What was going through your head knowing you would make your first start?

Since I knew I was going to start, I told myself it’s just another game. I tried to keep my head and it was just another game so I’m very excited and happy to achieve a goal that I’ve set. I’m happy to get the win.

What does it mean to have another homegrown make their MLS debut?

It means a lot. It tells you what the club has done with the Homegrown program. Hopefully more players come up from the academy and the first team can use them.

How did you deal with the DC attack?

We prepared for it the whole week. Oscar [Pareja] had in mind how they played, so we prepared well for that and with the result, it worked out for us.

What does responding to a heavy road loss with that performance in your next road game show?

It just shows the heart, passion and work ethic that the team has and the mentality that we have. We come out here every time to win and our goal is to win the cup.

FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz

General thoughts on the match…

We came off a really tough road result and obviously we responded at home but we wanted to prove we are a good road team. This is a good example of that. Everyone came together and played a pretty good performance. We’ll pick a couple things apart and get better, but it’s a good road win.

The third shutout in four matches, what did you think about the defensive performance?

We’ve been working a lot on it through preseason and the beginning of the season. Three clean sheets in four games is really impressive so we’re going to continue to build and pick it apart and learn from it.

What was going through your head on the PK save?

I’ve been watching [Espindola] quite a bit and played with him for a couple years in Salt Lake, so you learn their tendencies and watch a lot of footage of them. You get them comfortable going where they want to go and then make yourself as big as possible and hope it hits you. It’s simple but at the same time you make them beat you with a good PK and thankfully I was able to go the right way.

How much confidence does it give you to come into your first match of the season and have a shutout with a PK save?

I think about the big picture and every time I can go and perform well and show I want to be out there and should be considered is all I can do and that’s how I look at this. Our team was successful and that’s the biggest thing for me. Watching the guys perform for the entire 90 minutes and get the three points is huge for us and anything I can do to be a part of that is what I want to do.
