FC Dallas pick up Mauro Rosales in trade with Vancouver

FCD continues to add to their midfield for 2016.

The rumors have come true as FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps have completed a trade today. FC Dallas has agreed to trade Blas Perez for midfielder Mauro Rosales.

Perez had been rumored to join Vancouver but Dallas was holding his MLS player rights. Originally FCD wanted $50,000 in allocation money for Perez but was able to work out a deal to get Rosales in return instead after the Whitecaps parted ways with the veteran midfielder this offseason.

Rosales now joins a pretty solid Dallas midfield that includes the likes of Mauro Diaz, Fabian Castillo and Michael Barrios. He has 48 assists in 142 MLS games since 2011.

Rosales hasn't been as productive over the last couple seasons since leaving Seattle for Chivas USA and then Vancouver. The 2011 Newcomer of the Year recorded 34 assists and added 12 scores while in Seattle. If anything he will be good depth off the bench for set pieces like Michel was for the team in 2015.

What do you make of this swap? Happy to see another veteran added to the mix that can be used as depth? Sad to see Perez go to a conference rival?
