The Oklahoma City Energy FC has signed forward Miguel Gonzalez for the 2017 season. The 26-year-old forward will join his younger brother Daniel Gonzalez in Oklahoma City for the upcoming season.

Miguel Gonzalez spent his previous two seasons with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. While with the Western Conference USL side, Gonzalez accumulated 17 goals in 52 matches. Before joining Colorado, the Mexican had yearly stints with the Seattle Sounders FC U-23 and NPSL side Kitsap Pumas, where he scored six goals in ten matches.

Gonzalez played his college soccer at Peninsula College and Seattle University. While in Seattle, the 26-year-old scored 19 goals in 41 matches, earning himself the WAC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors.

Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen commented on the signing, elaborating on his excitement to see both Miguel and Daniel play on the field together.

"We are very excited about signing Miguel. He’s proven over the last two years that he’s a difference maker in this league," Nielsen said. "He’s very excited to have the opportunity to come here and play with us and with his brother. I’m sure he will continue his development with us; he can help take us to the next level.”

Both Miguel and Daniel commented on the reunion, expressing their excitement for the upcoming season.

"We've played together growing up, and it's a great feeling. It's competitive and we always try to bring out the best in each other," Miguel said. "Every team that we've been on has been a good team, a good squad, and this is not the exception. We want a championship and that's what we're going for."

Daniel added, “"Ever since I heard he was going to come, I'm just happy. It's going to be great. We played together in the PDL and it was fun, and we were hoping to maybe play together again in the USL, too.”
