Big D Soccer has been told that former FC Dallas midfielder Juan Esteban Ortiz is currently in talks with other clubs; however, nothing is definite.

Ortiz has been told to search for other options other than Dallas, but that does not rule out a move back to Frisco.

The midfielder’s option was not exercised at the end of the 2016 Major League Soccer season, making Ortiz available to join any club of his liking.

Oritz joined Dallas after a year stint with Colombian first division side Atletico Huila, where the 29-year-old midfield appeared in 25 matches.

Once joining Oscar Pareja’s side, Ortiz’s time was limited. The Colombian midfielder appeared in five matches for FC Dallas this season, starting two matches and earning two yellow cards.

Although the midfielder’s time in Dallas was brief, his presence in the midfield was greatly appreciated. With depth becoming a major factor in MLS, Ortiz’s ability to back up Victor Ulloa and Kellyn Acosta should not be overlooked.
