During yesterday’s Facebook Live chat with FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo, he hinted the club had re-signed defender/midfielder Atiba Harris to a new contract. Today, the club made that news official.
The St. Kitts and Nevis native has played 96 MLS matches in an FC Dallas uniform, scoring nine times and adding 11 assists in two separate stints. Overall in MLS, he has 246 appearances, with 29 goals and 26 assists.
Harris has been a relative mainstay at right back since re-joining the club before the 2015 season. He has helped the club to the two best regular seasons in franchise history (2015-16), the 2016 Supporters’ Shield, a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title and a berth in the Knockout Round of CONCACAF Champions’ League.
The 31-year old recently retired from international soccer but not before being a bit part in the club’s CCL group stage this past fall. He scored two big goals on the road to help push the team to the quarterfinals next spring.
Are you happen to see Harris back in a Dallas uniform for next year?
