MLS: Sporting KC at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

As it is customary around this time of the year, award nominations are flying in left and right. Canada’s soccer association revealed their nominees for awards yesterday and FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele was listed under the nominees for Player of the Year.

Tesho Akindele scored 6 goals and 4 assists in 31 MLS appearances (15 starts) during 2016. He also made several appearances for Canada over the course of the year, appearing in seven of then and starting four with one goal scored along the way. His lone tally came in a 1-1 friendly draw with Azerbaijan in June.

Voting for the 2016 Canadian Players of the Year award is split between media and coaches from across Canada and is open from November 28-December 8. The Men's National Team Player of the Year will be named in mid-December.
