The college season is nearly over as the College Cup will get down to the final four after this week. Most of the FC Dallas academy alums are done with their seasons and we thought today would be a good day to check in on how they did in 2016.
The club had several standout performers this season. If for some reason I missed someone, let me know if the comments.
Reggie Cannon - defender - UCLA
Some would argue that Cannon is the next best thing that hasn’t been signed by FC Dallas to a HGP deal. He had a pretty stellar freshman season with the Bruins, playing nearly every minute he could (1753 minutes to be exact) and he brought in one assist. UCLA saw their season come to an end recently against one of the top seeds in Louisville.
Eddie Munjoma - defender - SMU
He started 11 of the 12 games that he appeared in this season. Against Akron, he brought in three assists, he would end the season with four total.
Phillip Ponder - defender - SMU
He appeared in six games this season, starting three of them.
Toshiki Yasuda - midfielder - SMU
Tosh saw limited minutes in 2016 for the Mustangs as he started two gams and appeared in five others.
Jordan Cano - defender - SMU
The junior started all but one game this season for the Mustangs. He scored two goals in back-to-back games in October.
Hector Montalvo - defender - Grand Canyon University
The El Paso native started every game for former FCD manager Schellas Hyndman in 2016. He picked up one assist.
Kris Reaves - defender - Portland University
The junior transferred from Wake Forest at the beginning of the season where he started all but one match for the Pilots.
Nicolas Rochowski - defender - New Mexico
The redshirt senior played every minute again this season for the Lobos (he was their ironman in 2015 too). He had three goals this season to help push New Mexico into the College Cup tournament where they advanced in their first game in penalty kicks over Portland before losing out to Washington in the second round.
Patrick Khouri - midfield - New Mexico
The redshirt freshman gobbled up 1619 minutes for the Lobos in 2016. He brought in a goal and an assist as well over the course of the season.
Bobby Edet - forward - Furman University
The senior saw his goal scoring take a dip again this season as he only scored one goal in the 18 games played this season. He also brought in two assists.
Marco Ortiz - midfielder - Furman University
The senior played in all 18 games for Furman this season, scoring one goal along the way.
Ben Hale - goalkeeper - Furman University
He was redshirted this season.
Marco Carrizales - midfielder - Furman University
He played two seasons at SMU before finishing up his college days at Furman where he appeared in 16 games in 2016, and added two assists as well.
Giovanni Montesdeoca - forward - University of North Carolina
Montesdeoca was redshirted in 2016.
Martin Salas - midfielder - University of North Carolina
Salas sat out 2016 with an injury.
Matt Karasinski - goalkeeper - University of Tulsa
He played as the backup this season at Tulsa.
Charlie Furrer - goalkeeper - Stanford University
Furrer was the third-string goalkeeper for Stanford this season, where he didn’t appear in any games.
Kamar Marriott - midfielder - Florida Gulf Coast University
The junior started all but one game for the Eagles this fall. He scored one goal and brought in two assists in the 20 games played this season.
Ryan Barlow - midfielder - University of Denver
The redshirt freshman did well in Denver as he appeared in 12 matches as a sub in 2016 totaling 251 minutes.
