FC Dallas signs forward Jesus Ferreira to Homegrown contract

The son of former MLS MVP David Ferreira is the club’s 16th HGP.

FC Dallas announced on Thursday that they have signed their league-leading 16th Homegrown Player, forward Jesus Ferreira, from the FC Dallas Academy for the 2017 season.

The son of former MLS MVP David Ferreira, becomes the youngest player to sign with FC Dallas at the age of 15. He has been in the FCD system since 2009 when his father first signed with the senior team.

Ferreira was part of the Under-16 FC Dallas Academy team that won the 2015-16 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Championship after going 23-2-0 during the regular season. Since joining the FC Dallas Academy in 2013, Ferreira has found the back of the net 48 times in 50 starts.

He has been cleaning up lately in starts for the U-18 squad. In last month’s Generation adidas Cup in Kansas City, Ferreira tallied 10 goals in three matches as the FC Dallas U-18 team went 3-0-0 with a goal differential of plus-13. In a recent tournament in Qatar, Ferreira netted three more goals.

It is pretty cool to see FC Dallas sign a kid that has really been brought up in this club since he was eight. What do you make of this signing?
