Top Moments of 2016: Fortress Frisco

FC Dallas posted one of their best home records in 2016.

Home games this season were, for the most part, a lot of fun. FC Dallas dominated most of the competition that came in to Toyota Stadium as they went 12-1-4. Just one win shy of New York’s 13 for most wins at home this year.

You could also throw in the quality results that came in the US Open Cup at home and the CONCACAF Champions League. There was really no mistaking it that Toyota Stadium truly became Fortress Frisco this year.

Part of the fun was seeing FC Dallas extend a home unbeaten streak to 19 games this year before it came to an end on September 10 to the Colorado Rapids.

FC Dallas gave up 12 goals at home this season, good for second best in MLS. They also scored 33 goals in front of the faithful too, good for fourth best in the league.

Personally, there were a couple big moments that stood out this season that made home games truly fun. First was the obvious US Open Cup final win. There really is no better joy in sports as a fan to see your team win a title on their home turf. But the other moments that stood out to me include the win over Sporting KC, the 4th of July romp over Orlando, besting Chicago for the Brimstone Cup, the win over LA late in the year and the goal celebration in the first game of the year against Philadelphia.

What was your favorite home memory of this season? The USOC win? Or was there another stand out game that you enjoyed the most? Let us know in the comments below.
