The finalists for the 2016 MLS awards have been revealed. For the second straight season, Oscar Pareja (Coach of the Year) and Matt Hedges (Defender of the Year) are finalists for MLS End of Year Awards.

FC Dallas is off a back-to-back 60 point season that saw them win the league’s Supporters’ Shield for the first time.

Pareja is going up against a strong field of finalists in Pablo Mastroeni from Colorado and New York City boss Patrick Vieria.

Hedges will go up against Colorado’s Axel Sjoberg and LA’s Jelle Van Damme for the leagues best defender. FC Dallas averaged less than a goal against per game when he was in the lineup (2.25 GAA when he is not).

The finalists in each category receive the highest votes amongst three voting groups: current MLS players, MLS clubs (Coaches, Technical Directors, Chief Business Officers and PR Directors) and media members who consistently covered the 2016 MLS Regular Season.

Defender of the Year will be announced on Friday, Nov. 11 and Coach of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
